Read full description of the books:Do Pagan practices lead to an ecological approach to life? What is the role of magic in contemporary Paganism? How can ancient Pagan codes of behavior be applied today?
Representing diverse arenas of Paganism, eleven established activists, authors and academics passionately debate the critical issues facing modern Pagans. These provocative discussions-exploring feminism, magickal ecology, ancient Egyptian ethics, political activism, globalization, the power of truth, sacred communities, and environmental spirituality -challenge readers to reconsider what it means to be Pagan in the twenty-first century.
Read information about the authorLy de Angeles is an internationally published author winning awards for both visionary fiction and short film. Scholar, deep ecologist, anarchist and mystic de Angeles has had a varied and highly successful background producing and directing stage and street theatre, conducting private consultations with up-and-coming authors and screen writers. She is also a tarot master with a practice of three decades. For aspiring writers she provides professional consultations and, occasionally, mentorships.
Mostly known for Witchcraft Theory and Practice (Llewellyn Worldwide, 2000) and the award-winning The Quickening (Llewellyn Worldwide, 2006) she was first published in 1987 by Nevill Drury's boutique imprint Unity Prism UK.
The majority of her fictional work is that of legend, lore and myth - both of the seeming mist-shrouded past and the so-called far-flung future.
Ly grew up by the coast in Sydney, Australia, lost amongst the rocky cliffs and wild sea.
By the age of thirty two she was mother of three and lived off the grid in the highlands of Victoria with her coven.
De Angeles' passions are the art of clear communication, history, mythology, the legends of Ireland and her Celtic heritage, debating with strong-willed, good-humoured people, all the wild things and all the wild places, the sea, the mists, every possible colour grey and people with a sense of humour. She's known for her outspoken stance on matters pertaining to the sustainability and guardianship of earth and the rights of all species to self-determination.
De Angeles moved from Byron Bay to Melbourne in 2012, initially for academic work in the arts at Deakin University and later was accepted into a Masters program. Her current published work is Initiation | a Memoir. She is planning an intensive tour the USA in 2017 before further writing and academic work.
